Behind the Scenes: An Interview with Margalit Ayubi
What are some of your responsibilities at the high school?
My job is to support our wonderful students, to be available to them as needed. If they’re looking for advice, to talk, or just want to relax with a cup of coffee, they can turn to me.
What are some of the activities you help students with?
I enjoy cooking with our students. Different classes eat supper here once a week, and we often prepare meals together. Teaching the girls to cook is a valuable bonding experience.
What are some projects you’ve worked on with the students?
For the past year and a half, I’ve prepared challah every week with the students. We use over 60 pounds of flour a week to prepare challot that we distribute to needy families.
This project is very meaningful to me as we started it in memory of my son, Sharel, who was killed in a tractor accident when he was only 13 years old.
How would you describe your experience working at this school?
It’s a school with a wonderful atmosphere—friendly, accepting, welcoming. I feel lucky to work here, and make sure the girls know I’m here for them.
