Shavuot in the Five Towns

This past Shavuot, members of the Five Towns community got a tasnte of Torat Eretz Yisrael as three of YBA's leading educators, Rabbi Dr. Yona Goodman, National Director of Education, Rabbi Shlomo Kimche, Vice Chairman for Public Affairs, and Rabbi Amir Edrei, Head of Ulpanat Tzfira, spent the holiday in the community and delivered tens of shiurim in synagogues, private homes and high schools. Our Rabbis spoke to the community about the State of Israel and Zionism in the 21st century, the challenges of educating today's youth and other topics in Torah and Jewish thought. Throughout the chag they spent time with community members who were able to see first-hand what it is that makes YBA so special: Our unparalleled teachers and leaders. Four local synagogues participated in the program: Beth Sholom in Lawrence, Young Israel of Woodmere, Young Israel of Lawrence Cedarhurst and Irving Place Minyan in Woodmere. The enthusiastic reception that our scholars received has led us to begin planning another weekend in the Five Towns, which is tentatively scheduled for Parshat Lech Lecha.
