We are thrilled to announce our inaugural AFYBA mission to Israel.
The mission to take place, G-d willing, January 9-17, 2010, will be led by Torah scholar and community leader Rabbi Benjamin Yudin and his wife, Shevi. The itinerary is designed to allow us the opportunity to experience Israel through the eyes of these great leaders and to make a statement of support to the 63 YBA yeshivot and ulpanot with their 22,000 students, many of whom are currently serving in the IDF or performing other national service. The mission will combine touring, interesting presentations, participating in chesed projects with students from some of our schools, as well as insightful commentaries by Rabbi Yudin. In addition, Rabbi Yudin and Shevi will take us “off the beaten path” and we will host a special guest speaker for our Shabbat in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Yudin is known to the Jewish world through his weekly radio broadcasts on JM in the AM and as the Rav of Congregation Shomrei Torah in Fair Lawn, NJ. Rabbi Yudin also serves on the faculty of Yeshiva University, to which his career has been inextricably linked since his own undergraduate days there as a history major. Thereafter, he pursued a dual graduate study program, earning Smicha from YU's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, as well as an M.A. in Jewish History. Shevi, a legend of a rebbetzin, is well known throughout Bergen County as a role model for thousands of women.
For a limited time only, we are opening a special pre- registration rate to AFYBA supporters and members of Congregation Shomrei Torah. If you sign up with a non-refundable deposit of $250 by July 31, 2009, the cost of the entire mission, including airfare from Newark Airport, 5-star accommodations, all meals (with the exception of 2 dinners), transfer costs to and from the airport in Israel, tour buses, admission fees, and gratuities will be only $2,654 for double occupancy (please add $565 for single occupancy). Airport taxes and fuel surcharges are extra, subject to change, and are payable at the time of the ticket purchase. Flight insurance and cell phone rentals are optional and can be purchased separately. If you choose to make your own flight reservations, the optional “land-only” price, will be $2,010. This price is for checks and money orders only. Credit card purchases have a 4% surcharge. After August 1st prices will increase by $100. Space is limited to the number of seats on the bus and registration will close when the bus is filled up.
